UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors are worn out with time and require to be replaced. It is important to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Check the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This kind of door handle is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and they use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily installed on any uPVC/Composite doors.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The lever that is sprung can be reduced to accommodate a wider range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are generally used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in many variations & styles.
The handles are available in various finishes, including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with a spindle and screws, allowing them to be fitted on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm permit a bigger size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when not in use.
It is crucial to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. These are typically rectangular or round in design with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the home. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are swivel that allows you to put them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock, allowing them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with internal and external doors usually having different levels of security.
The selection of a cylinder is essential. It depends on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders that are more secure, whereas doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is important to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.
The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.
There are cylinders that have been constructed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could delay insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found in the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to bring the multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. These handles used to have no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the best way to address this issue. It also stops your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of numerous kinds of uPVC doors. They are supplied in one unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to put in and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
